Our Team

Cheryll, Binzy and Jennifer each work to provide excellent hygiene care and patient services.  Cheryll was a Certified Dental Assistant before choosing a new career as a hygienist and Jennifer is a UBC graduate.  Binzy joined our team in 2024 and is a great addition! The hygienist team at Dr. Neil Zastre Inc. is conscious of the level of care they provide and will work to ensure that you are comfortable during your routine hygiene appointment.

A dental hygienist is a highly-trained professional specializing in dental cleanings, oral health assessment and the promotion of good oral health habits. 

Our hygienists provide additional services outside of a routine recall appointment.  Our team has participated in an Oral Cancer screening program sponsored by the BC Cancer Agency.  They are skilled in providing 'in depth' treatment that may be required by patients who have periodontal disease.

 If you have any questions or concerns about your oral health and how it relates to your whole health, please ask.  And if you need a refresher on how to better care for your teeth and gums they will be happy to oblige!

Clinical staff who assist Dr. Zastre and provide clinical hands on care to patients are either Certified Dental Assistants or chairside assistants.  CDAs have studied, obtained certification and are required to upgrade their skills and continue to advance their education as well.  Chairside assistants are exploring dentistry and working directly under the care and supervision of the Doctor.

Astred, Helen and Choe will each help ensure that your visit with us is comfortable and efficient.  Astred has taken the Orthodontic Module from UBC and is able to assist Dr. Zastre with orthodontic cases.  Our team has worked with Dr. Zastre at his study clubs and are very interested in continuing to advance their educations.  Offering patients up to date skills and new procedures helps ensure that your visit with us meets the goals you have for your oral health.

There are several accredited training programs for dental assistants in BC and all of our CDAs have successfully completed one of those programs. Educational requirements to enter include successful completion of high school with an emphasis on sciences including biology and chemistry. In addition, some programs require students have and maintain a valid CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Level C certificate.  Our office staff meet this requirement.  Dental assistant programs provide training in infection control, preventive dentistry, dental radiography, clinical assisting procedures and community dental health.  Our team also attends the Pacific Dental Conference annually as well as additional continuing education courses.

Please remember that insurance coverage is a contract between each patient, their employer and the insurance provider.  The scope of your benefits is a function of your employer's budget and may change from time to time. 

Please ensure that you keep us up to date on any changes to your plan. 

We can assist you with claims, obtain 

pre-determinations and process 

co-payments but any changes to your plan or balances owing are the responsibility of the patient.  Your plan will  not notify us of changes and will limit communication with our office because of PIPA.
